Help With Your Prayers

Prayer is the way that God has provided for us to converse with Him. Such a simple activity, and yet so effective. He has promised that he will always hear our prayers - and that He will work for good in His perfect time. Prayer is also about us listening to Him, aligning our thoughts with His, acknowledging His greatness and being thankful for all the good things in life, even in the hard times.

Those who pray are not immune to the bad stuff that can happen in life and that sometimes affects us all. Over the years the Christian Church has coined the phrase 'the world, the flesh and the devil' to describe the forces that are opposed to God and are the cause of pain and suffering in the world. But Christians believe that faith and goodness will ultimately triumph in a new heaven and earth where his original creation purposes will be restored.

If you have not prayed much recently we would encourage you to start again. We know that if you approach prayer sincerely and are prepared to be surprised, you will not be disappointed. Jesus' friends once asked him to teach them how to pray. His reply was what we now call "The Lord's Prayer", which many people find a helpful basis for their own prayers.

Our Father in heaven ... may your name be honoured ... may your kingdom come and may your will be done here on earth as in heaven ... give us what we need today ... keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others ... keep us from temptations that distract us from you ... and deliver us from the evil one.

If there is something that you would like us to pray about, you can send us a prayer request. If you are already involved with our Church, here are a few suggestions that might help with your prayers.
  • Thank God for all the good things that happen in Church life. Thank Him for the opportunities we have for worship and for those who lead our services.
  • Thank God for the Holy Spirit who shows us what God is like and who gives us strength and wisdom.
  • We know people who are trying to come to terms with bereavement. Please pray that they will be able to look to the future with hope.
  • There are people who have difficulties with their health. Please pray that they will be given strength each day.
  • Please pray for our young people. Life brings many challenges for all young people, but those who try to maintain a Christian witness face additional pressures.
  • Please pray for the unity of the Church. This is something that we can never take for granted. And pray for the wider Church in Britain and around the world. Pray for all three Churches in Audlem.
